A good home setup starts with safety and reliability, not decorative lighting.
Private room and secure background
Remove identifying documents and reflective surfaces. Know what neighbors or people outside the room can hear.
Reliable upload and backup
Test at the intended work time. Wired Ethernet is preferable when practical. Keep a safe process for reconnecting after an outage.
Camera, light and audio
Use soft front lighting, a stable camera mount and a microphone close enough for clear speech. Test recordings before going live.
Physical health
Use supportive seating, safe cable routes, ventilation and regular breaks. No ranking system is more important than the ability to stop, eat, drink and use the bathroom.
